Liverpool has asked tournament organisers to investigate the incident. Eintracht Frankfurt’s sporting director claims that a Frankfurt player used German expressions equivalent to “hey” and “bro”.

Liverpool’s U18 team has been sent off the pitch twice in two days at a youth tournament in Germany after one of its players was allegedly racially abused.

Following the incident, which took place during Friday’s alleged match against Hoffenheim, Liverpool management decided to suspend the match and the team left the pitch together, immediately reporting the incident.

Liverpool announced that the same player was attacked in a separate incident during Saturday’s match against Eintracht Frankfurt during the tournament.

Again,
the coaching staff and management decided to leave the field together after the incident was immediately reported.

In an interview with BILD, Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Timo Hardun was quoted as saying: “Like Eintracht Frankfurt, our entire NLZ is multicultural and has clear values that we live by and always demand.” While there is no racism here, we still take such accusations seriously. ”

Haldun claims that the Frankfurt players used the German equivalent of “alter” and “kumpel”.

He added: “We can rule out racism. This is a matter of language and we hope that we can therefore clear up any misunderstanding with the players involved and those responsible at Liverpool FC.”

Liverpool has asked the tournament organisers to launch an investigation. Sky Sports News understands that the tournament does not fall under UEFA regulations.

Sky Sports News has contacted Hoffenheim, Eintracht Frankfurt, the tournament organisers and UEFA for comment.

Liverpool’s full statement: “Liverpool can confirm that members of our U18 team have reported that they suffered racial abuse from opponents during the Bundesliga Cup youth tournament in Schwäbisch Hall on Friday. “The player immediately notified the referee, his teammates and our coaching staff, after which Liverpool management made the decision to abandon the match and for everyone to leave the pitch.

“In a separate incident, the same player was the victim of verbal abuse during a tournament match today. The player again warned his teammates and coaching staff and our management again made the decision to leave the field.

“We are proud of the player and his swift action and mature response in reporting the incident. “He and all his affected teammates are being supported by the Academy’s security team.

“The club calls on opponents and tournament organisers to immediately and thoroughly investigate this incident.”
