Enzo Fernandez has been found guilty of traffic offence and could face driving ban. The midfielder moved to Chelsea from Benfica in 2022 for a record transfer fee of £106.8 million in the UK. The 23-year-old Argentina international was found guilty of failing to identify the driver of a Porsche Cayenne.

He was charged with failing to provide information identifying a driver when questioned by Dyfed-Powys police on December 27 last year. According to court documents, Fernandez was found guilty in absentia at a hearing at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday. Two further charges of driving on a road without third party insurance and running a red light in Church Street, Llanelli, were dropped.

Court documents said his attendance was necessary “to determine whether there are extenuating circumstances (including exceptional hardship) that do not justify disqualification.” Fernandez won the World Cup with Argentina in December 2022 and moved to Chelsea from Benfica a month later for a British record transfer fee of £106.8 million. He moved to the Lisbon side from Argentine club River Plate for £8.8 million in the summer of 2022 and made just 29 appearances before moving to London.
